Scientific-Research
Laboratory No 1 "Investigation of Oral traditions of
Professional Music and its Modern Directions" was established
on February 10, 1992 (Ministry of Education, Order No
31-1/50). Professor G. Abdullazadeh, PhD, Pro-Rector
on Scientific-Research work heads this Laboratory.
Topics
researched in the Laboratory, have great practical importance
for Musical Academy's curriculum system (special musical
schools, primary musical schools, as well as Azerbaijan
musical science in total).
Historical
topics are the leading areas in the Laboratory scientific
activity. They analyze and translate musical-literature
manuscripts from foreign languages, study the problems
of modern ethno-organology and its links with the past.
The
following topics are in the focus of the Laboratory:

Music culture of the ancient period.
a) ethnographic music;
b) folk music;
c) mythological music

Sound system of mugam, its geographical and cultural
environment.

Creation of textbooks based on national music: 1,2,3-voiced
solfeggio, harmonic exercises.

Study of modern directions in professional music of
oral traditions.

Genres
arrangement in religious music.

Curriculum
methods of performance, etc. The Laboratory published
4 albums of musical articles "Research problems of
Azerbaijan national music", as well as materials of
Republican scientific conference in the album "Composer
and time" devoted to jubilees of Azerbaijan composers.
They also published a great deal of books and monographs.
